Consortium Meetings
The focus of this meeting was model validation and controller integration. Since RAPOLAC is nearing completion, partners also discussed dissemination and technology licensing.
The Venice meeting concentrated on integration issues - specifically integrating the controller with the SMD cell and integrating theoretical, and empirical models and validating the results. Presentations were given by partners on work to date.
Turin, Italy - DIAD April 2009
The meeting held in Turin focussed on the integration of the various different strands of research being carried out by the partners. Updates were given on the work in the pervious 4 months, and then breakout groups were formed so that technical aspects could be discussed in depth.
DIAD hosted the evening dinner at the Hotel Jolly Ligure.
Leuven, Belgium - Katholieke Universiteit Leuven December 2008
The fifth consortium meeting was held at the Katholieke Universiteit in Leuven (KUL). Updates were given by all partners on progress to date and futuer deliverables were discussed. In the next phase of the project, work will focus on integration of the results and on the development of training modules.
KUL hosted a dinner at the Faculty Club in the old town and also showed consortium memebers around their laboratories.
Catania, Italy - Universita degli Studi di Catania June 2008
The midterm meeting was hosted by the Universita degli Studi di Catania (DIEES-UNICT)in Sicily in June 2008, attended by all partners. Updates on deposition trials, cell modifications, weld modelling, systems modelling, SMD control and environmental aspects were presented by the responsible partners. Presentations were also made of the completed deliverables.
DIEES-UNICT showed partners round their laboratories, culminating in a demonstration of a proof-of-concept SMD controller. A dinner was held for partners to further discussions brought up during the meeting.
Liege, Belgium - Samtech December 2007
SAMTECH hosted the meeting to mark the end of the first year at their facility in Liege, which was attended by all partners and by the project officer. Partners presented work carried out in the previous 6 months and agreed the plan for the next year. Technical discussions focussed on the integration of modelling and microstructural results and further validation trials.
Partners toured SAMTECH who then hosted a dinner in the town.
Tuscany, Italy - Metec June 2007
The 6 month meeting was held in Tuscany in June 2007. Updates from each work package were presented and the workplan for the next 6 months agreed. Discussions centred on prioritising materials to be tested and trials for validating the modelling work.
Sheffield, UK - University of Sheffield February 2007
The kick-off meeting was hosted by the University of Sheffield in February 2007. Dr gault welcomed the partners and the EU project officer then gave an overview of the RAPOLAC project, its scope and aims. All partners gave a presentation and the action plan for the first year was agreed. Adminatrative matters were also discussed and the Consortium Agreement was finalised.
Partners were shown around the AMRC facility, with particular emphasis on the SMD equipment and a deposition demonstration was arranged. A dinner was held at Whirlowbrook hall to allow the partners to get to know one another and to forge good working links.
